Got the 331 cu in Y in Todd's 64 Falcon last week. Worked until 7:00PM Sunday trying to finish up the loose ends. This is a new race car so it had to be built from the ground up. Todd's buddy Tim worked on the wiring while Geoff and I worked on throttle linkage, radiator mount, shifter, trans dipstick tube. John Hildebrand worked Friday afternoon and Saturday on fuel and brake lines.
Todd was busy on the Lexan windows and interior sheet metal.
The big push is on for the Antique Drags this coming Sunday at Barona Dragstrip.

Need pictures John, another y block powered Falcon, yes we need pictures! By the way I just hauled a 61 two door Falcon home today. Sure hope someone takes it off my hands before I decide I can't live with out it, I sure don't need another project right now.

Glen, I have a picture of the Falcon Todd started working on. Ain't much to look at. Looks a whole lot different now. It has glass fenders, hood and bumpers. Lexan windows. Weighed the car last night, 2350 pounds with a few parts still missing. Looks like 2700 finished with Todd at the wheel. Paint is Wimbledon white. If all goes well should be able to get some pictures at the track this weekend.http://forums.y-blocksforever.com/uploads/images/be74f6f0-1743-49ff-b8e1-046f.jpg

Looks about like the 61 I just hauled home John, hope he has as much fun with his as I do with mine. It always draws a crowd when I have the hood off and people realize that it is Y block powered.

Well, it took a whole lot of work from Todd, Geoff, John Hildebrand and Todd's buddy Tim, and I helped some too but we made it to Barona for the Antique Drags. The Falcon turned out really nice. Still quite a bit of sorting out to do with the Cal-tracs, carburetor ect. Todd got in 3 passes, all were mid 6.90's at 97-98 mph. Not bad for 98° weather and a new car.

John that is awsome, proves that a Y block will fit, but I sure would hate changing plugs! The numbers are super, looking forward to more info on the engine and more details on the intake. Great job as always!

Glen, the Falcon has the Crites shock tower kit but it is still tight.
With some tuning and better weather we're hoping for some 6.70 passes, maybe better???

Congratulations on some very fast runs for a brand new car.  Car looks great also.  It’s always good to see what the car looked like before starting the project and in this case, it was a big improvement.  Great job and I’m sure some lower et’s are in the making.

By the way , just how do you change the spark plugs ?  Thinking to myself , [ I wonder if my wife would leave me if i did this to our 64 falcon futura ?] , oh well quit  dreaming . __JIM

Jim, plugs are tough to get at. It takes a wrench on a plug socket with a hex top. Todd had the Falcon back at Barona Saturday for the Renegade event. Todd and Geoff made a cold air set up for the engine bay and tried a new 850cfm Quick Fuel carb. Todd worked on the Cal-Trac set-up at the track.  Weather was much better than the last time at the track.
Best run was 6.78 @ 100.5 mph

Todd had the Falcon out at Barona Dragstrip November 15 for the King of the Track event. Todd won his class but broke out in the semi's to determine the overall winner. Weather was cool all day and really dropped as the sun went down. We were happy to see the 6.69 second time but his dial-in was 6.72.
There will be another race November 29th so we'll see how it goes.
Found this video on youtube of one of Todd's passes

John.  Thanks for posting the links to the videos.  Both videos work fine on my end.  That Falcon sounds great and sure doesn’t sound like a SBF.

They both sound awesome.
Great times too.
John, You should suggest a Holley HP set up!
My Terminator has been upgraded to HP version V2 and is now laptop manageable including Ignition.
It would work well on that single plain manifold you guys fabbed.

Todds car ran personal bests at the track last weekend.  6.64 1/8th mile 101.9 mph.  Were digging away at it hope to be in the 6.50's in January when the 2015 season starts up.
