Daniel: Another source is the book the "NASCAR Chronicle" by the editors of Consumer Guide, 2003. Editor; Greg Fielding. By Publications International. It contains what are supposed to be the race stats for Grand National for 1957 (& 1956 also.) However, the Convertible series is only mentioned, but not detailed. Some of the write ups seem weak, and the editor often mentions the Chebies, while omitting mentioning other makes in the captions. (gee, how unusual!) Briefly, 1957 was an epic battle between the Fords & Chebies, with only a handful of races won by Pontiacs & Olds. Fords took 26 wins & Chebies took 21 wins. Unfortunately, the points champ driver, tough, wily veteran Buck Baker, drove Chebies & that is what is always mentioned, not the fact that Ford won the Manufacturers Championship. What isn't mentioned is that Ford under Gen. Mg'r Rob't McNamara, almost completely withdrew factory support per the AMA agreement in June, even deleting high performance stuff from their catalogues. McNamara was warned by some of his senior people not to, but he didn't listen. A huge mistake for the the future, as G.M. ran a full race support operation out the back door, but that's another story...

Not the only(or the last) mistake made by Robert McNamara.

So far I have checked all of these websites, and more. Everything seems to be on driver or owner points/wins format. Nothing about manufacturer wins, even at the Ford racing website. I will keep looking......

Holy s*it! This post went before I managed to edit it to more readable version. Sorry, my finger slipped . But those are the '57 season results and as you can see the season started in '56 and there is several wins for Ford .

Notice that starting in August, Ford wins became more rare. That's after the AMA "agreement". John in Selma, IN
